We are thrilled to share that Zeke Emanuel has joined Oak HC/FT as Venture Partner. In the 18 months since inception, our firm has invested in 12 companies, met with over 200 entrepreneurs, and we have a lot more to do and look forward to in 2016. The role of Venture Partners is foundational to Oak HC/FT’s future success and we are excited to welcome Zeke and his ideas to our team.
Investing in inspiring and innovative ideas is what we do best at Oak HC/FT. Zeke brings insights and knowledge from 30 years in the American healthcare industry including current and past roles in government, policy, research and academia. Zeke’s personal mission is completely aligned with what we strive to achieve at Oak HC/FT. We first met Zeke at the Aspen Ideas Festival many years ago where we bonded over our shared passion for enhancing the patient experience through transforming the healthcare system to a better functioning, model for patients of all ages and needs of care. He’s embarking upon the private sector for the first time through our firm as he recognized the innovation coming from the start up community, fueled by smart private investors, as key drivers of this needed change.
He is a sought out commentator, regularly sharing his expertise and thought leadership through published opinion pieces, academic writing and in conversation with national business and healthcare media in print and on TV. In 2014 Zeke published “Reinventing American Healthcare.” His roles in government — notably contributing to the design the Affordable Care Act in 2009, navigating the H1N1/ Swine Flu epidemic in 2009, driving Michelle Obama’s Lets Move campaign and drafting game-changing regulations in bio-medicine — will contribute to our firm’s growing offering to entrepreneurs and companies to help them best identify the needs and solutions that will drive enhancement in the industry.
Kicking off today, Zeke is joining our healthcare team in San Francisco where we are attending the J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference and meeting with some of the industry’s top minds to share ideas and collaborate around bettering this industry. Going forward Zeke will serve as a resource to our current and potential partners — CEOs, entrepreneurs — contributing ideas and generating implementation of their game-changing technologies.
