Welcoming Marc Andrusko to Oak HC/FT

March 18, 2026

Fintech is being fundamentally redefined. For years, the category has focused on modernizing the core infrastructure of traditional financial services. The opportunity was in replacing legacy systems with digital-first alternatives. That era produced transformational companies, and Oak HC/FT was there for much of it.

But the boundaries of fintech are shifting. Today, we think about fintech as the intersection of technology and money. Now, it includes those traditional fintech businesses, but also the full spectrum of companies that shape how financial decisions are made, how money flows and how risk is managed. That means purpose-built financial infrastructure, but also foundational AI platforms with deep financial logic at their core. The most consequential companies of this next era won't all come from Wall Street or the traditional payments ecosystem. They will emerge from the intersection of AI and the financial architecture of the modern enterprise.

That is where we are investing. And it's why we're thrilled to welcome Marc Andrusko as a Partner on our fintech investment team.

Marc brings a rare combination of operating experience and investment instinct that spans exactly the arc we believe fintech is following. He joins Oak from Andreessen Horowitz, where he led investments in B2B AI applications and fintech, with thesis areas spanning capital markets, AI in professional services, go-to-market tools, payments infrastructure and the CFO stack, and businesses at the intersection of fintech and categories like healthcare and vertical software. Before a16z, Marc led the personal financial management vertical at Plaid – helping build and scale partnerships that brought better financial tools to millions of consumers. Before that, he was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where he held roles across corporate development, strategy, and interest rate products sales and trading.

That career arc – from the core of traditional capital markets, to the data infrastructure underpinning modern financial services, to investing in the AI-era companies redefining the category – mirrors precisely how we think about where fintech is headed. Marc has seen this evolution from multiple seats, and he brings the pattern recognition to identify which companies are building something durable versus which are riding a wave.

"We've spent years building conviction around an expanded definition of fintech, and Marc is exactly the partner we've been looking for to help lead that charge. His background spans the traditional financial system, the infrastructure that modernizes it, and the AI applications that are beginning to replace it. That full-stack perspective is rare, and we are thrilled he’s decided to join us." – Matt Streisfeld, General Partner, Oak HC/FT

"I've spent the last decade watching fintech's edges expand in real time – into vertical software, into AI, and now into the core of how enterprises manage risk, operations and capital. Oak is one of the few firms that has both the track record to be credible in the category and the conviction to back what it's becoming. That combination doesn't come along often. The opportunity to bring my operator turned early stage investor lens to a firm with such prolific growth equity roots felt like an absolutely perfect fit." – Marc Andrusko, Partner, Oak HC/FT

Marc graduated magna cum laude from Duke University, where he studied Public Policy, Environmental Science, and Markets & Management. He will be based in our New York and Connecticut offices.
