Amit Jhawar serves as an Advisor to Oak HC/FT.
He is currently CEO of Attentive, where he is redefining mobile shopping experiences by personalizing every consumer interaction for the world’s leading brands. With over a decade of high-impact leadership in mobile commerce – spanning payments and martech – Amit has a proven track record of transforming companies and creating industry-defining innovations.
Amit began his career in consulting with McKinsey and Bain Capital Credit before advancing to leadership roles at KKR. In 2012, he joined Braintree as CFO and COO as one of the first executive hires, championing seamless mobile experiences in payments and securing key clients like Uber, Airbnb, and Wish. Amit spearheaded Braintree’s acquisition of Venmo and drove the sale of Braintree to PayPal in 2013. At PayPal, Amit’s strategic vision for mobile payments led to his rise to General Manager of Braintree and ultimately CEO of Venmo. Under his stewardship, both businesses went from < $50M in revenue to well in excess of $500M in revenue and achieved mass commercial success and consumer adoption.
After redefining mobile payments, Amit shifted focus to helping other entrepreneurs leverage his experience as a Partner at Accel. He joined Attentive in 2021 to help move up the shopping funnel by personalizing the commerce experience through marketing. Promoted to CEO in June 2023, he has since pioneered Attentive’s AI-driven strategy, steering the company from its SMS marketing roots to become a comprehensive global mobile marketing platform. Today, Attentive enables brands worldwide to create dynamic, personalized interactions powered by cutting-edge data and AI solutions.
Beyond his executive roles, Amit is a sought-after advisor and board member, actively shaping the future of technology through his work with startups and his role on the CTIA board. Having graduated with Honors from Harvard Business School and UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Amit is a recognized thought leader, frequently speaking on leadership, scaling businesses, and the future of eCommerce, marketing, and AI.
